Your fingers live on the middle row of letters. This is called the home row. After every key you press, your fingers spring straight back here. From home, every other key is just a short reach away.
Left hand rests on ASDF · right hand rests on JKL; · both thumbs rest on the space bar.
Most keyboards have a tiny raised notch on the F and J keys. Rest your left index finger on F and your right index finger on J. When you feel both bumps, your hands are home — no need to glance down.
From those two anchors the other fingers fall into place on their own: each finger drops onto the key right beside it, and the thumbs rest lightly on the space bar.
Each key is coloured for the finger that should press it. To reach a key above or below home, stretch that finger out, tap, then bring it straight back to its home key. The colours on the trainer keyboard match this guide:
You will climb nine realms. Each realm teaches a new set of keys across three lessons:
1. Drill — repeat the new keys to build muscle memory.
2. Words — type real words using the keys you know.
3. Mastery — a longer mix to prove you have it.
As you type, the glowing key shows what comes next and the cue names the finger to use. Press the wrong key and it flashes red — just press the right one to carry on. Reach 90% accuracy to clear a lesson; clear all three and you earn that realm's rune, opening the next gate.
